Suhashini (Shini) is a Paediatric Occupational Therapist with vast experience working with children and adolescence in a special school setting. She holds a Occupational Therapy degree from Trinity College Dublin, with Honours.
She is well versed in providing intervention for children who face challenges in everyday activities that arise from a wide range of conditions such as Sensory Processing Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorders, Global Development Delays, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Dyspraxia and other learning difficulties.
Shini has a natural affinity connecting with children. She guides and supports children and their families to achieve their goals and enhance their independence at home, in school and during play. Shini’s approach strongly emphasizes the need for cultivating a child’s positive sense of self by focusing on their strengths in order to address their challenges. She takes a collaborative approach with children and their families when designing interventions, which have shown to bring about positive results and experiences.
As a therapist who seeks to develop her professional skills, she constantly engages in trainings that include, Ayres Sensory Integration, SPEX special seating, toilet training, sensory toolkits for the classroom, powered wheelchair usage, to name a few. She is also formally trained as a SIPT (Sensory Integration and Praxis Test) therapist.
Shini believes in the importance of advocacy and education by empowering children and families to develop personalized strategies in addressing daily challenges and working towards achieving meaningful goals. She constantly strives to go the extra mile in providing quality care for every child and family that she encounters.
