Team Around the Child (TAC) Approach at Psych Connect

At Psych Connect, our Team Around the Child (TAC) approach is delivered through Bridge Connect Integrate (BCI). BCI is our integrated, team based model of care, designed to ensure that all professionals involved in a child’s support work together around a shared plan and common goals.

Instead of working separately, therapists, educators, and caregivers align their strategies to create consistency across environments and ensure that intervention is purposeful, coordinated, and meaningful for the child and family.

At the heart of Bridge Connect Integrate is a clear, step by step progression of skills. Foundational skills such as regulation, engagement, and communication are prioritised first, as these form the base for all later learning and development. In day to day practice, this means children are not expected to manage higher demands before they have the tools and support they need. This approach reduces overwhelm, supports generalisation across settings, and allows progress to build steadily over time.

Bridge Connect Integrate is particularly valuable for children with complex or multiple needs, including autistic children, where challenges may span regulation, communication, sensory processing, social interaction, and executive functioning. By targeting the right skills at the right time and aligning strategies across disciplines, BCI supports effective, manageable, and sustainable intervention for both the child and their family.

By bringing professionals together and creating shared accountability, Bridge Connect Integrate provides a structured yet flexible pathway for growth. It ensures that support is coordinated, responsive, and grounded in the child’s whole profile, rather than isolated goals or individual sessions.

Who is the Bridge Connect Integrate (BCI) Program for, and how does it work?

The Bridge Connect Integrate (BCI) program is designed for children and adolescents with higher or more complex therapeutic needs who are receiving a combination of services at Psych Connect. This may include psychology, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, educational therapy, or other supports within our clinic.

Families enrolled in BCI are supported by a dedicated clinical case manager, who coordinates communication across the therapy team and acts as a consistent point of contact for the family. This helps reduce fragmentation, repetition, and the burden on parents to manage multiple providers independently.

Regular multidisciplinary meetings are scheduled as part of the program. During these sessions, clinicians and caregivers come together to review progress, align strategies, and adjust goals as needed. Feedback is shared in a clear and holistic manner, ensuring everyone is working from the same understanding and plan.

As part of the program, families and relevant stakeholders are also given access to a shared communication platform that provides real time visibility into the child’s progress. This platform allows key stakeholders to remain actively involved, track how goals are being addressed across therapies, and see how strategies are aligned over time.

The case manager also supports practical aspects of care, including scheduling, facilitating feedback sessions, and liaising with schools when appropriate in relation to the child’s therapeutic plan.
