Dr. Sanveen Kang

Dr. Kang is a Clinical Psychologist by training and has more than 14 years of experience in treating mental and physical health issues for clients in hospitals, private practice, educational and corporate settings. Dr. Kang has always been committed to developing innovative therapeutic programs and leading mental health professionals and had led multi-disciplinary and specialist psychology health teams in the private practice sector in Singapore.

Dr. Kang is trained in the use of a wide range of psychotherapeutic interventions: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Sand Tray and Symbol Play Therapy, Triple P Parenting and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).

Dr. Kang has a specialized interest and, extensive clinical experience working with children, adolescents and their families in addition to young adults suffering from:

  • Mood disorders (e.g. depression and anxiety)
  • Managing stress & anger
  • Grief & loss
  • Trauma
  • Adjustment issues
  • Self-harm
  • Sleep problems
  • Behavioural problems
  • Self-esteem issues
  • Parenting difficulties

She has also obtained specialised training in treating clients with:

  • Somatic complaints relating to somatization disorder, irritable bowel syndrome and other functional gastrointestinal disorders and,
  • Helping women with emotional and relational difficulties arising from pre and post-natal complications and issues.

Moreover, Dr. Kang has received specialized training in conducting diagnostic psychological evaluations. Adopting a non-judgemental, holistic approach in her evaluation and intervention, Dr. Kang has also been working closely with the international schools in Singapore and the surrounding region, as well as schools under the purview of the Ministry of Education, Singapore.

Dr. Kang is also regularly invited to be a panellist and, speak at conferences and events on topics such as mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and adolescents, developing growth-oriented mindsets in young people and, supporting individuals from multi-cultural backgrounds. She was a panellist at the Special Education Network In Asia: Singapore (SENIAS) conference.

Having lived and worked in several countries, Dr. Kang is familiar with difficulties relating to expatriation and is sensitive to cultural adjustment issues. She has offered support to clients from both local and expatriate populations. Dr. Kang is a firm believer that every individual is unique and has strengths which need to be acknowledged and, cultivated in therapeutic intervention. This philosophy is reflected in the careful tailoring of therapy to fit each individual need. She strongly believes that each individual has the potential to lead a happy and fulfilling life.
