Dr. Kang is a trusted clinical therapy and assessment provider for corporations, educational institutions, government entities, hospitals, social service agencies, and individuals or families seeking involved and empathetic care. She has more than 16 years of experience in treating mental and physical health issues. Dr. Kang has always been committed to developing innovative therapeutic programs and leading mental health professionals and had led multi-disciplinary and specialist psychology health teams in the private practice sector in Singapore.

Dr. Kang is trained in the use of a wide range of psychotherapeutic interventions: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Sand Tray and Symbol Play Therapy, Triple P Parenting, SMART (Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Therapy), Yoga-Based Psychotherapy for Trauma (YBPG) and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).

Dr. Kang has an interest in the mind-body connection. She is an avid believer in the role of the autonomic nervous system and, sensory regulation and arousal in psychological treatment. She is of the opinion that physical and emotional health are intimately intertwined. As such, she often incorporates the body and somatic regulation into her psychotherapy.

Dr. Kang has also received specialized training in conducting diagnostic psychological and educational assessments across the lifespan; from early childhood, as young as 12 months old, to late adulthood. She has expertise in diagnostic assessments for a range of conditions including but not limited to dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, autism, adhd, social communication disorder, personality disorders and dyspraxia. Her experience extends to understanding the developmental nature of these conditions as they progress from child to adulthood, and variance in symptomatology when considering gender difference.

Adopting a non-judgemental, holistic approach in her evaluation and intervention, Dr. Kang has also been working closely with the international schools in Singapore and the surrounding region, as well as schools under the purview of the Ministry of Education, Singapore. She is a certified user of the Singapore Ability Scales (SAS). Moreover, Dr. Kang conducts child custody evaluations and medical legal evaluations.

Dr. Kang is also regularly invited to be a panellist and, speak at conferences and events on topics such as mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and adolescents, developing growth-oriented mindsets in young people and, supporting individuals from multi-cultural backgrounds. She has been recurrently invited as a panellist at the Special Education Network In Asia: Singapore (SENIAS) conferences and has been featured in mainstream media numerous times over the years.

Having lived and worked across three continents, Dr. Kang is familiar with difficulties relating to expatriation and is sensitive to cultural adjustment issues. She has offered support to clients from both local and expatriate populations. She is especially well suited to consult on cross-cultural disputes and negotiations. Dr. Kang is a firm believer that every individual is unique and has strengths which need to be acknowledged and, cultivated in therapeutic intervention. This philosophy is reflected in the careful tailoring of therapy to fit each individual need. She strongly believes that each individual has the potential to lead a happy and fulfilling life.
