Giana Sharma

Counsellor/Psychotherapist

Giana Sharma

Giana’s therapeutic approach finds inspiration in this quote by Rumi: “The wound is the place where the light enters you”. She welcomes you to explore and make meaning of what those wounds are in your life that could serve as an opportunity for second chances, personal growth and change. Given this, it takes willingness, open-mindedness and courage to reveal oneself fully to your therapist whilst being accepted in the counselling process. For this reason, Giana affirms that nothing takes precedence over the care and maintenance of her relationship to her clients.

Giana recognizes that that every person comes into therapy with a unique life story to share. Therefore, she adopts an integrative approach to help her clients navigate those challenges and help steer them with timely interventions. Rooted firmly in Person-Centered Theory, Giana is also a systemically trained Family Therapist who applies aspects of behavioural approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy; with psychodynamic models i.e. Transactional Analysis.

She actively supports the locals and expatriates living in Singapore. With her acquired counselling knowledge, skills and experiences, she intends to continue engaging the lives of children & adolescents, individuals, couples and families in the community. Previous to joining Psych Connect, she provided individual counselling to at-risk adolescents in the community as well as adults and couples in the private setting.

Giana works on a wide range of areas including but not limited to:

  • Marital/couple relational issues
  • Anxiety and stress management
  • Depression
  • Self-esteem
  • Gender and sexuality
  • Body Issues
  • Career and workplace related difficulties
  • Executive and life coaching
  • Infertility
  • Grief & loss
  • Parenting challenges
  • Interpersonal relationships
  • Life transitions

Prior to this, Giana had a successful career in the accounting and finance sector for 13 years before finding her calling to be a counsellor and psychotherapist. She is dedicated in providing congruency, warmth and emphatic understanding to her clients. Giana is also a mother of three and an avid traveler. She provides therapy in English, Malay and Hindi.
