Yorklyn is a Clinical Psychologist who values being thoughtful and empathetic. She is dedicated to supporting clients in fostering meaningful personal growth and psychological well-being. Yorklyn hopes to create a safe and comfortable space where clients can be themselves, feel understood, and work at a pace that feels right for them. She believes that everyone has a voice that deserves to be heard, wounds that deserve to be soothed, and strengths that deserve to be nurtured.
Yorklyn has worked with clients across the lifespan in various environments, such as schools, clinics, and correctional settings. Having studied and lived in Australia for several years, she also has experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, and orientations. She has a keen interest in supporting clients with eating disorders, and aims to help them achieve happier, healthier lives.
With a strong belief that psychological care should be tailored to the individual and complemented with compassion and curiosity, Yorklyn employs a warm, holistic, and client-centred approach. She has worked within multidisciplinary healthcare teams and collaborated closely with other allied health professionals, striving to create targeted treatments that address the myriad factors that contribute to a client’s difficulties. Yorklyn adopts a strengths-based approach, aimed at helping individuals and their families gain a deeper understanding of their strengths, challenges, and support needs. She draws on evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
She has experience conducting psychotherapy and psychological assessments to support both children and adults, including assessments for ADHD and Specific Learning Disorders. Working closely with parents and schools, she provides tailored interventions and recommendations for the child’s developmental and emotional needs. She has worked within the neurodivergent space, including at Pathlight School, providing individual support for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Alongside her career, Yorklyn has spent time volunteering in community settings, such as the Institute of Mental Health, Riding for the Disabled Association, and with victims of sexual crime. In her free time, her passions include playing video games and training in martial arts.
