Counsellor in training

Nidhima Thakar

Nidhima was born in Indonesia, and after living in Qatar and India, she now calls Singapore home. Nidhima’s diverse multicultural background helps her understand people with different cultures and experiences and brings an inclusive perspective to her counselling practice.

Having completed her Bachelors in Psychology and Psychological Science, Nidhima is completing her Masters in Counselling from Monash University. Her decision to pursue counselling is deeply influenced by an extract from the poem Desiderata:

“You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here”

Reinforced by these words, Nidhima believes that every individual has an inherent right to belong and be valued. She is dedicated to creating a safe non-judgemental space where individuals can explore and embrace their potential, recognize their worth, and find hope and resilience amidst life’s challenges.

Nidhima is passionate about working in women's health and fertility. Having personally witnessed the value of mental health support for individuals during their fertility journey, Nidhima believes it is of paramount importance that every individual receives the best support in their journey to become parents.

Nidhima is also very passionate about working with children and has previous experience working with schools to address and manage behavioural issues in students. Led by her desire to make education a wholesome and positive experience for students, for her thesis Nidhima explored the phenomenon of statistics anxiety and its implications for students in Universities.

Beyond her professional life, Nidhima deeply enjoys wildlife photography which has taught her mindfulness and gratitude, enriching her personal and professional life.
